SecureNotes
Store passwords, notes, and sensitive data in encrypted notes, generated and saved locally. No signup. Fully private.
AES-256 Encryption
Your notes are secured locally with AES-256, a protection standard widely used by banks, governments, and military organizations to protect sensitive data.
Version Tracking
Each export generates a unique version identifier, making it easier to track edits, manage revisions, and avoid overwriting previous note versions.
Portable Encrypted Files
Save, transfer, back up, or securely share your .clume notes across devices while keeping full ownership of your encrypted data.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
You write your passwords or sensitive information, choose a passphrase, and your data is encrypted directly in your browser. A secure note file is then generated and downloaded to your device. Your data is never uploaded or stored online.
Is it safe to store passwords offline?
Yes, storing data offline reduces exposure to online attacks. Since everything is encrypted locally and never sent to a server, you stay in full control. However, security also depends on using a strong passphrase and keeping your file safe.
What happens if I lose my secure note file?
If you lose your secure note file, your data cannot be recovered. There is no backup or recovery system. You are fully responsible for storing and backing up your file securely.
What is entropy in a password?
Entropy measures how strong and unpredictable a password or passphrase is — the higher the entropy, the harder it is to guess or crack. It depends mainly on length and randomness rather than just complexity, which is why a long passphrase is often more secure than a short complex password. The entropy score helps you quickly understand how strong your passphrase is before encrypting your secure note.
What happens if I forget my passphrase?
Your passphrase is required to decrypt your secure note. If you forget it, your data cannot be recovered. We do not store or have access to your passphrase.
Is this better than a password manager?
This tool offers a different approach. Traditional password managers focus on convenience and syncing across devices, while this tool focuses on privacy and control by keeping everything local. It’s ideal if you prefer not to rely on cloud-based solutions.
Can I use this on multiple devices?
Yes, but you’ll need to manually transfer your secure note file between devices. If you want seamless access and secure sharing, you can use Clume vaults.
